Plastering in Hertfordshire
Smooth, paint-ready walls and ceilings across Hertfordshire. Skimming, dry lining, ceiling plastering and seamless repairs, finished by an experienced hand.
Plastering is the core of what we do, and it is the work most Hertfordshire homeowners call us about first. A good finish is the difference between walls and ceilings that look flat, clean and ready to decorate, and ones that show every ripple the moment the light catches them.
We skim over old, patchy walls, board and skim new work, repair cracked or damaged plaster, and finish ceilings ready for paint. Skimming applies a fine coat, around 3mm, over a rough or uneven surface to leave it smooth and level. Fresh plaster usually needs 7 to 14 days to dry before painting, and longer if there has been damp or backing work involved. Whatever the job, we will explain what to expect before we start so there are no surprises.

Common questions
How long before I can paint new plaster?
As a rule, allow 7 to 14 days for fresh plaster to dry, and longer if any damp or backing work was involved. It needs to change from dark brown to an even pale pink before it is ready for paint. We give you a clear guide for your own job before we leave.
Do I need the whole wall re-skimmed, or just a repair?
It depends on the state of the surface. If the existing plaster is sound, a patch repair blended into the wall is often all that is needed. If it is blown or cracked across the wall, a full skim gives a better and longer-lasting result. We will tell you honestly which one your wall needs.
Can you board and skim a new stud wall?
Yes. We handle dry lining and partitioning from start to finish, boarding the wall, then taping and skimming it ready to decorate.
